# How to use the gym card reader

# How to enable the reader?

At this point, the reader should be all set up and ready to use. ***If not*** then [**__here you can find more information__**](/en/article/integration-with-a-gym-card-reader-pqa0h8/) about how to do it ;)  

1. The first thing we need to do is enable the reader. You can do it in the Settings -> [Modules](https://demo.wod.guru/dashboard/facility/modules) tab, where can you find "Card reader"

2. Then, after refreshing the page, you will see a reader icon in the upper right corner of the screen (not visible on small devices):

* This means that card reader on your device is currently **disabled** ;)  

* To **enable** it you have to click the icon - it turns green when clicked.

* You can disable it by clicking on the button again ;)  

# Assigning a card to a user

1. Assigning a card to a user. When we read a card that has not been yet assigned to the gym member , the system will ask us to select the person to whom we want to assign it. Remember that the gym member must first be registered in the system, then we can assign him to the card!

|| If the scanned card has a code that is already in use in the system (e.g., the card was previously assigned to a member who has been removed), the system will show a message that the card code is already in use!

2. Displaying the gym member's profile. When the card is already assigned to a specific gym member, after reading it, this window appears:

###### What can we see here:

* gym member profile
* membership validation (whether it is valid or not, and when it expires)
* member's presence at different times

###### What can we do here:

* Extend the pass
* Edit the profile
* Sell a product
* Book in a member for classes (the nearest ones are highlighted)
* Book in a member for Open Gym
* Write the card back from the club member

# Marking attendance

When the code is read by the scanner, system marks the club member's attendance at the upcoming class.

Our default time settings are as follows:

* for club members with classic passes (price greater than USD 0) - we mark attendance at classes within 90 minutes when the code is read. **That is: the club member is registered for classes at 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. He comes at 4:40 PM and clocks in. The system will mark his attendance at both of these classes.**

* for Multisports (passes for USD 0) - it will mark attendance at classes within 40 minutes when the club member punches the code
